The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ were recently announced and PhoneArena was able to run a few benchmark tests to see where the upcoming model stacks up against the competition via apps like AnTuTu, GFXBench, and GeekBench 4.
AnTuTu tests a range of components including CPU, GPU, RAM, storage and the database I/O. GFXBench, as its name indicates, tests the capability of how well phones run on several graphical apps while GeekBench 4 is focused on single and multi-core CPU performance as well as GPU performance in selected areas like image processing.
You can see the Galaxy S9 fall short of the iPhone X in most of the benchmark scores, while the Galaxy S9 manages to trump it in the Antutu scores. .
The thing with benchmarking is that it should only be used as a guide to when you’re purchasing the phone. What benchmarks don’t manage to cover, is finding out how phones fare in the long run.
